Project Summary

The Mammoth Preserve (Preserve) is a 5,033 acre property owned by the West Virginia Land Trust (WVLT). It is comprised of two parcels as it sits along the border of Kanawha and Fayette County. The WVLT intends to
develop the property into a nature preserve with publicly accessible non-motorized recreation opportunities including walking, hiking, trail running, XC skiing, mountain biking and equestrian riding. The Mammoth Preserve Master Recreation Development Plan was developed during an independent study during my pursuit of a Masters in Agriculture,
Natural Resources, and Design. The plan fills the gap of needed planning and design for those future recreation opportunities. The outputs created a total of ~45 miles of hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian riding trails, a campground, dispersed camping area, and restoration plantings of shrubs, forbs, and grasses.
